Hey! I’m Leah.

Here’s a little about me, your Kansas City Boudoir Photographer

Thanks for stopping by. It’s great to have you here!

If there is anything you should know about me is it is that I care so much. I care about my clients, my craft, my work. This isn’t just a hobby or something I do on the side. This is my full-time gig and I absolutely LOVE what I do.

Speaking of love… I might love cats more than anyone else you know. I currently have two of my own (Bluebell, a 20-year-old retired barn cat, and Nubbin, a 6-year-old feisty failed foster cat) and if it wasn’t for my loving husband I would probably have three dozen.

As a girl I struggled with disordered eating, unhealthy exercise habits, and body dysmorphia. It wasn’t until I started a self-portrait project (a creative portrait ever day for 365 days) back in 2013 that I truly found healing and experienced love for my body. It became clear then that photography was so much more than clicking a button, it was a powerful tool for radical transformation of self-perception.

As a Certified Professional Boudoir Photographer as well as a member of the Association of International Boudoir Photographers, I have trained with some of the best in the boudoir game . I am ready to use my skills to take you to that next level of empowerment and revolutionary self compassion and love.

I am head of the VIP empowerment community The Brave Boss Babes of Kansas City on facebook and enjoy every second of it.

I am a dreamer, nerd (try growing up with the name Leah in the 80’s and NOT love Star Wars), lover, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and believer. And yes, I DO want to see a picture of your cat.

My Favorite Things

For the past twenty years my hair has never been a single color for more than a year. So I thought I’d share the graveyard of headshots past along with a quick crib sheet about what I do when I’m not empowering women.

Favorite TV Shows:

Grey’s Anatomy, Hart of Dixie, Downton Abbey, Smallville, and Friday Night Lights

Where did you grow up?

My grandfather built a home in Leawood, KS in the 1950s when it was the country. My parents bought it from him in the 90’s and I grew up there with my 3 siblings.

What Color Will Your Hair Be When I See You?

Only God knows. It is a mystery to everyone, even myself! Let me know if you have a vote what it should be :)

What Are Your Top Tunes?

I am firmly an elder emo (think Dashboard Confessional, Thursday, Brand New…). My 9th anniversary present to my husband was VIP tickets to watch Taking Back Sunday’s 20th anniversary tour of Tell All Your Friends.

Years as a Pro Photographer:

As of 2023 I am at 8 years as a professional photographer (CRAZY!).

Favorite Hobbies:

I’m an avid crafter who loves to sew and crochet. Hiking and exploring are also favorite pass times. Occasionally I will indulge my husband in a 5 hour long table top board game, but I’d rather play Tetris on my gray brick Gameboy.

A Peak Inside My Life

I love being a boudoir photographer with my whole heart! When I’m not behind the lens capturing true beauty, you can often find me adventuring with my handsome husband Matthew (our goal is to hit up all fifty states together), hiking with friends, or finding ways to spoil my nephews and cats (in that order). Matthew and I love to laugh so you’ll often find us being goofs, watching something like The Office, or catching a comedy at a local theater.

Being someone who thoroughly enjoys life gives me such a deep appreciation for the art of photography, the art of capturing moments. As I look through the thousands of photos I’ve taken preserving all the highs and lows of my life, it is so incredible how an image can transport you back to the instant of its happening. It’s magic!

It is absolutely the greatest thrill in my life to give the women of Kansas City that magical gift through capturing their beauty photographically so they can always remember as well!
